What the crap. I dreamed I invited Tom Cruise to my New Year’s Eve party. Homer Simpson also came, though. Tom went around touching everyone with that happy-go-psycho smile. I tried warning him against touching Homer, but he takes the guy’s hands… then his eyes go completely blank… ---

My default font makes the $ (dollars sign) and S (capital ‘s’) practically indistinguishable. So I was beginning to wonder if y’all hadn’t lost your collective minds. "You shouldn’t spell it ‘Scientology.’ It demeans your argument! “I’ll spell it ‘Scientology’ because it’s warranted!” Me—\> 😕 ---

Does anyone know the source of that video? The ending makes it look like it’s for motivating other Scientologist, but the editing and music seem like they’re done to make him look as bad as possible. (Did the editors deliberately take out all the nouns? He kept saying things like “you have to know it,” without any clear sense of what ‘it’ was. Or does he really talk like that, especially to an audience that’s already absorbed into the collective?) ---

South Park blasted them in the "Trapped in the Closet episode. They did a good job on Edwards who "talks to the dead "too. They skewered our celebrity fakes quite well. ---

I’m incredibly sad that they may have sucked in Will Smith. I always liked him and I thought he had more smarts than that. It’s like learning that he eats kittens and kicks puppies. When I saw that Tom and Katiebot were hanging around the Smiths I was worried for Will but I didn’t think he would get sucked in. Apparently it’s like a disease and can be spread through close contact. I suppose the Beckhams are next if they haven’t already been turned. The Scientology celebs should be banned from contact with the “normal” ones. We like our celebrities just plain weird, not totally wacky. Although it might be interesting to see what they could do with Britney who’s already totally wacky, Scientology might be a step down in wacky for her. ---

For some people, I’d even go so far as to say that religion makes them better people, so I’m willing to hold my tongue with regard to certain churches. Scientology, though, I believe to be downright evil. The reason we should show them respect is because there is a large portion of society that doesn’t know much about them, and generally thinks of it as a harmless, movie star religion. If the people criticizing it LOOK like immature ranters and ravers, then they will fail to win over the undecideds. The difference with the Nazis is that everyone already knows how vile they are. In fact, that’s kind of my point: the word “Nazi” is pretty much synonymous with “evil” in our society. Until the same can be said about Scientology, our side needs to focus on winning arguments rather than venting anger. I’m not saying that you should treat them like they have an equally valid point of view, but rather just don’t make yourself look like a frothing at the mouth madman. ---

Was it deliberately changed to make him look bad? Or is he talking about things that make perfect sense if you have the context (e.g., have studied COS), that he didn’t bother to explain because the film was for COS events? Truthfully, I didn’t see much in that video that I haven’t seen from various religions, and/or in sales / motivational seminars. Have you ever been to a big Shaklee rally? That video would fit right in… ---

I’ve got a somewhat legal question: Hoe can the Church of Scientology claim copyright to the Youtube videos? Technically, doesn’t the copyright belong to whatever production company _made_ the video, or to the studio they made it for? I realize that Youtube basically caves to any hint of a threat of legal action, but do the Scientologists really have a legla leg to stand on, at least copyright wise? ---
