That was conducted over a year ago. Do the statistics still apply today? How many hundreds, thousands of iraqis have died or have lost family members because of ‘collateral damage’. I’d still say things are worse.
Well, obviously you’re much more informed about the situation. You see it on TV, while they just live there.
The whole world? Did you ask their permission before speaking on their behalf?
I walked right into that one.
Who said anything about being informed? And what difference does it make if I live there or not? Either it’s worse there for those that do, or it’s not. I happen to believe (at the moment) that it’s worse. For those who suffered indirectly or directly from the shitload of ‘collateral damage’ it is a fucking hell of a lot worse. And I’m probably more informed than those evangelical idiots who re-elected bush. They probably thing Saddam hussein himself masterminded 9/11
I saw a part of the Blair interview with BBC today… I am really sad. He used the same expressions Bush used… and it came out “artificially”. Also I don’t beleive this “foreign” islamic extremists are messing up Iraq BS and Blair repeated it like an automaton.
I used to admire or respect Blair… until today. I’m quite dissapointed.
I guess Al Zarqawi is just an invention of the CIA then
manny… for three! He shoots, he scores! And the crowd goes wild.
Sorry for the brief hijack, Lobsang (but it’s true, we don’t). I’ll send you back to, uh, whatever the heck you hoped to debate.
I happen to believe that you’re quite unhappy with your current life. Yes, yes, I know you think you’re happy with it and all; but I know more than you, and I can better determine what makes you happy.
Same could be said about the collapse of Hitlers Reich, Korea, Japan etc etc
I don’t understand your tactic. I believe the war was a mistake and it’s made things worse. I’m not telling people their observation about their own lives is wrong. I’m listening to them, and then telling you that they say their life is worse.
They may be in the minority. Maybe life is better for most iraqis. I personally think it’s unlikely. Iraqis are dying every day from suicide attacks, and American attacks on faluja.
I said maybe. I invite you to find a more recent poll, as I was unable to.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/3514504.stm
That poll is more recent. **I was wrong. ** (although I wonder how the current upsurge of fighting has had an effect on opinion)
He is no invention… still the point is that to delude people by implying that Iraqis aren’t a big part of the insurgency, and that is the impression one has by what he said. That is typical of “no lies” we’ve seen before. Foreigners only exist with local support too.
The local support can come out of fear of reprisal. The Iraqi public, to an extent, aren’t supporting the insurgency, they are beginning to see the results of what will happen if these types get into power. most of the support comes from the Sunni ‘exclusion’ from the Iraqi Interim Government.
The only fear is that the Americans won’t stay in Iraq long enough to establish some security and order.
Lets look at it like this…
Atheists acknowledge that their non-partisanship with “a God”, is very unpopular with the Christian Fundamentalist point of view. Yet we maintain it.
I don’t apologize for the things I believe in, why should Tony Blair?
