Og smash posters who not believe Og’s religion! Og go start own message board with no infidels!
Board rules call for religious witnessing to be done in GD. Ya don’t like it, keep scrolling. Or consider how you’d hate to be a moderator faced with telling posters that their OP’s are a matter of faith, not fact. No doubt political discourse would be more civil there, but the opportunities to fight ignorance would be seriously reduced.
Oh my… yes there is. There’s even a Geek Hierarchy. It’s only for those who pretty much identify as geeks in the first place, though.
As to Ace’s Op rant, I think he has a point. However, it’s not so much a problem of topics as it is of certain posters. Any topic (for the most part, with only a few exceptions), can be subject to a valid debate, but some people simply refuse to abide by the principles of reason. As Ace said early on…
This is certainly true, but is a problem relating to specfic people posting, not topics on the whole.
Re: The Geek Heirarchy
Do I even want to know what a “Furry” is?
If you don’t already know… probably not, no.
Holy cheese! You aint kiddin’.
Regards to this:
It tends to happen more often in discussions about faith, as opposed to the factual-based questions regarding religion. That shouldn’t suprise anyone, since Faith itself has this as one definition: “Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.” It still strikes me as odd that we combine discussions that are irrelevant without material evidence (and cites), with ones that can by definition never have any.
