“No offence taken I’d prefer to let someone else be my shield. If the crossbows are maned by people we may get shot in the back going to get the boddies though. I think throwing a torch and then either rushing them or have Auto deal with the trap.” ---

GM Notes 1. Except where necessary for plot reasons, arrows etc don’t generally stick in and require advanced surgery to remove, not in this game system. (RuneQuest had rules for impaling hits.) 2. Most warrior cultures have generally found a few square feet of hardwood, often faced with leather or metal, to be more efficacious than random dead bodies for stopping pointy hurty things. You may wish to follow their lead. ---

So what do we have along the lines of a shield so we can go in and hopefully block a few arrows? The goblins had armor and shields right?” “Oh, I just thought of something! There’s another use for the dead corpses too. If it’s a trap, or even something humanish since the light is low, we could take two dead bodies and toss them into the main room. The arrows will go off, and while whatever is busy reloading, we all rush in and crush 'em! I really like this idea, as it involves trickery and mutilating corpses, two of my favorite things!” ---

In goes the torch. It lands on a couple of old sacks, which fail to ignite for now. The torch continues burning unsteadily, and you catch a glimpse of movement as a couple of what could well be goblins scurry further away from the light. You can see plenty of other barrels, boxes etc, many of them stove-in, scattered around a large storeroom perhaps thirty feet each way, and along the left wall a couple of mouldering animal carcases, largish ones. ---

Okay. Without significant interference, the armoured priests and warrior steamroller their way over a couple of crossbow-toting goblins, leaving you in sole possession of a whole bunch of smelly trash. There is an irritating squeaking noise just on the edge of hearing. You can see another way out opposite where you entered. ---

After listening to the squeaking noise for a while, and taking into consideration the smell, the state of the sacks and other odds and ends in here, and a chink or two in the masonry of the walls at floor level, you guess that this place is rat-infested to the rafters. ---
