Tool

I love Opiate and Undertow. Aenima is decent, but kind of slow. Lateralus is slower and I find it kind of uninteresting. I have only managed to listen to Lateralus about three or four times and consider it disappointing. Based on this curve, I kind of doubt I’ll buy any more Tool albums. They seem way too impressed with themselves as time goes on.

I do have A Perfect Circle’s first album. I like that, but mainly for maybe three or four songs. The rest bores me.

I doubt it’s 'cause you’re getting old. I’m 21 and I don’t get their videos either. I just listen to their albums and don’t pay attention to their videos or interviews. Makes it more enjoyable.

theres far too little of bonkers stop motion scary animation in music videos these days. the videos for stinkfist, aenima and the one off the last one thats about 15 minutes with tricky in it (parabola?) are a welcome sight if i catch MTV on a late night.
the fincher one for judith by APC rules as well.
i have to agree with lateralus droning on a bit though, i could only get through it 3 or 4 times. aenima rocks though.there should also be more tablas in ‘popular’ music

No, but Cookie Monster has been quite active in the Scandinavian metal scene lately, fronting bands like In Flames, Opeth, and many many others. I don’t know how he keeps up the pace.

Tool is not my favorite band, but definitely place in the Top 20. I really like how they remain “faceless” to the media – they don’t put pictures of themselves in their albums or videos. Been a fan since watching the “Sober” video, many moons ago. Creepy and bizarre.

Wish I could see 'em live, but they have an annoying tendency to play small gigs which sell out before they are even announced…

But there’s nothing to take with a grain of salt. Danny Carey is really a follow of Crowley and other nonsensical mysticism. Occasionally he’ll sell some rare Crowley work on his website. His drumheads have mystical symbols on them so he can “concentrate”. I know the band is a bunch of jokers who like to manipulate interviews, but Danny Carey’s personal beliefs have been clear for years now.

I’ve loved Tool since I first heard, “Sober.” I’ve seen 'em three times, own all the CDs, own APC and saw them as well. This is probably if not my favorite, among my top five favorite bands.

And I ignore the videos and interviews as well.

When my husband blurted out he doesn’t like Tool, I seriously considered a divorce.

Well, OK, it wasn’t a * serious* consideration but I think I love him a little less than I did before.

If I like a band/artist (or rather, their/his/her music), I make a very strong effort to avoid their interviews and or published statements.

Count me as OGT Back to '92.

I’ve been a fan since watching the Sober video on Beavis and Butt-head, come to think of it.

I liked ‘Undertow’, didn’t care for ‘Aenima’, and found what I’ve heard of their newer stuff very boring. I think it’s because their sound varies so little, it all starts to sound like self-parody after you’ve heard enough of it.

I had never heard of them or their music, but i was in a CD store in Sydney a few years ago and they were playing Undertow. I really liked it, and bought it on the spot. The guy behind the counter was bummed, because they only had one copy and he had to take it off the CD player so he could sell it to me.

It’s still the only thing of theirs that i own, but i really like it.

Might go and put it on right now, in fact.

Love em.

Been thinking alot about “Tool” and “A Perfect Circle latley”… Love both bands and especially Like APC.

APCs music, in my mind, is filled with such depths of quiet aggression. When I listen to their slower songs it just seems to burst under the notes. Its heavy metal in a soft way.

Sounds like hair metal.
