Alright… Now that I have gotten that out of my system, congrats! I love TOOL. I saw them at Lollapalooza (recently re-named Lotsapoorlosers) in 1993. I took my best friend, who had never been in a pit before. TOOL was the first time, and he still thanks me to this day for getting him to go up there with me. I had a friend in Atlanta that called and said, “I got tickets to go see this band, A Perfect Circle. Ever heard of them?” I thought I was going to have a heartattack until he revealed that he was taking his pseudo-punk rawk girlfriend instead of me. Then I just got pissed. The new album is excellent, but it’s kind of like watching the new version of “Romeo and Juliet”. You have to give it a couple of listens before it really starts to click with you. Oh, and I was so happy. I couldn’t find “salival” anywhere, and I found it the other night for $20. Yay! Skerri ---

Thank you, thank you. Your collective cursing and jealousy makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. 🙂 Prog Rock? Who knows. That’s just a label, as far as I’m concerned. TOOL just kicks ass, and that’s good enough for me. Lateralus takes a while before it really hits you. Give it some time. The leading magazines over here called it the album of the year already, and I tend to agree with them. But that’s just because the new Rush album won’t be released in 2001. 😉 ---

My beef is just with people who bash “prog rock” and then go on and rave about albums that are as much a prog rock album as _Tales from Topographic Oceans_ is. The last two Tool albums are both prog rock albums, as well as the last few Radiohead albums. And, Coldy, I’ll raise you one on the best album of 2001: [Anoraknophobia](http://www.marillion.com/discog/anorak/index.html) by Marillion. ---

I’ve heard it’s a good album - something which surprised me. They haven’t made a decent album since “Afraid of Sunlight”, IMHO, and the last concert I visited just plain sucked. 45 minutes of accoustic crap - “Alone again in the lap of luxury”, unplugged? You MUST be joking. The crowd went nuts when Rothery finally traded the accoustic for the ol’ stratocaster.
