I was watching _ **Heartbeat** _ on TVO not long ago and heard **this song** :

I was immediately transported back 50+ years in time.

Dionne Warwick had her own hit version too:

Yes. And I should point out that in the US, there was no “Man” in the name of the show. It was just _ **Secret Agent** _.

That is one bitchin’ tune! I’m assuming it charted in the UK?

Four songs that have no particular event associated with them, but that immediately call to mind some vague, barely-formed but powerful impressions from early childhood. They all came out when I was 3-4 and haven’t lost their magic in over 40 years of frequent listenings.

**Gerry Rafferty** - _Baker Street_
**Kate Bush** - _Wuthering Heights_
**Elton John** - _Song for Guy_
**Jeanette** - _Porque Te Vas_

> The Hokey Pokey

I used to be addicted to the Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around. 😉

Well, that _is_ what it’s all about.

[_The Wayward Wind_](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHoXMS5IyuE) by Gogi Grant (1956).

I was too young to have any clue about the broken heart love story here. But I did get the picture of a derelict hobo growing up in a lonely shack by a railroad track. Somehow, that always seemed to speak to me.

“Livin’ Thing” by ELO always brings me back to when I was 15 years old and had an enormous crush on this girl in my class.
