Subtitled: The Affirmative Action Poll – Only Yanks need apply. _(Seeing that the Brits have The Clash & Costello polls to vote in this week and Collective Soul has only sold 13 CDs in the entire UK)_ **First: The Who’s, What’s, Where’s & Why’s of the Supplemental Poll** In an attempt to squeeze as many bands in the shortest amount of time possible, as a regular feature, The Monday 6 @ 6 Poll, includes a Headliner poll and a Supplemental poll. This Collective Soul poll, like the featured [**Clash**](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=147594) and the [**Elvis Costello**](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=147597) headliner poll threads will be closed and tallied 7 days from today, Monday December 9, 2002 at or about 6PM EDT. Results from all 3 polls will be posted a few minutes later on that same day in _Week #34_’s regularly scheduled _Cream 6@6 Poll_. **Second: The Poll & How it Works** It’s simple enough, post your **6** favorite songs by the artist. Personal observations, opinions, liner notes, comments and the like are always welcome but are in no means required. You **May** include Cover Versions. If you specify Live version, it will be noted, but tallied together with the studio version of the same title. **Third: The Supplemental Poll Artist** ’s Discography If your memory of the supplemental artist of the week isn’t exactly up to speed, here’s a link to the discography with 30 second cuts of some of track previews when you drill down through the albums: [Blender Dosage Disciplined Breakdown Collective Soul Hints Allegations & Things Left Unsaid](http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/SID=1156601635/pagename=/RP/CDN/FIND/popsearch.html/clickID=tn_srch_txt). The links are provided by CD Now, and are meant to refresh your Collective Soul “101” knowledge & jar loose any forgotten titles. (Please refrain from voting based on .wav previews) **Lastly: The Supplemental Poll Artist of the Week** Without further ado, the brothers from GA: **Collective Soul**. I have heard 6 songs by collective soul, however, as in previous polls, I have had to eliminate all of those that don’t rate even enough to mention in a poll. Therefore, I post no songs. ---

Collective Soul? I mean, really… (of course, here I am voting) 6. The World I Know (gets the nod for being the song that got me, and probably most people, into this band) 5. Shine 4. December 3. Run 2. Listen 1. Untitled (from S/T album) What does it take to get an artist a poll? One suggestion? I’m curious, because there’s one or two I’d like to suggest, but not if that alone would land them on the list. I’m kind of dubious about some of the bands I see coming up – not because of my personal taste, just because I think they might lack much broad appeal. I mean, any artist that wouldn’t garner at least 20 or so votes over the course of the week, doesn’t really rate enough to use **JohnBckWLD** ’s valuable time, right? ---

I forgot one. I’m gonna bump “The World I Know” (since everyone else will vote for it anyway) and go with “She Said.” So, make mine: 1. She Said 2. Shine 3. December 4. Run 5. Listen 6. Untitled (from S/T album) Thanks.
