Subtitled: _Part II of the Slowhand Week_ **First: The Who’s, What’s, Where’s & Why’s of the Headliner Poll** In an attempt to squeeze as many bands in the shortest amount of time possible, The Monday 6 @ 6 Polls include a Headliner poll. This Eric Clapton poll, like the featured [**Cream** thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=149259) will be closed and tallied 7 days from today, Monday December 16, 2002 at or about 6PM EDT. Results from all polls will be posted a few minutes later on that same day in _Week #35_’s featured _Concrete Blond 6 @ 6 Poll_. _Why you ask?_ After the ZZ Top poll, sometime this decade, the plan is to compile all the votes from the SDMB & post them in a few threads. Then I’ll burn a several volume CD set & mail ‘em out to the voters who helped keep these threads going. It only takes a minute to vote, and you can compare your faves with other dopers who voted next week **Second: The Poll & How it Works** It’s simple enough, post your **6** favorite songs by the artist. Personal observations, opinions, liner notes, comments and the like are always welcome but are in no means required. You **May** include Cover Versions and of course, duets. If you specify Live version, it will be noted, but tallied together with the studio version of the same title. **Lastly: The Headliner Poll Artist of the Week** Without further ado…Slowhand himself: **Eric Clapton**. Here are my _6_ **ERIC CLAPTON** selections: 1. After Midnight 2. She’s Waiting 3. Cocaine 4. Slunky 5. The Core 6. I like Clapton as a guitarist, but much of his solo work is bland beyond belief. He’s an incredible sideman, but a mediocre solo act. 1. Further on Down the Road (on “The Last Waltz”) 2. Cocaine 3. After Midnight 4. Before You Accuse Me 5. Layla (unplugged) Can’t think of a 5th, but any of these except #1 are inferior to any of my the Derek and the Dominoes choices. ---

Ditto **RealityChuck**. Derek and the Dominoes tunes blow E.C.'s solo stuff out of the water (Blind Faith is also pretty darned good). But, here are my top 6 for Clapton: 1. Before You Accuse Me 2. Let it Rain 3. After Midnight 4. Wonderful Tonight hm… to be honest, those are the only ones I can think of that I really like. ---

Have You Heard (not really a solo effort - it’s from “Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton.” But one of EC very best efforts, and I’m pretty sure it’s the first time he sang lead on an album.) Motherless Children Please Be With Me (great Cowboy tune by Boyer and Talton!) After Midnight Running on Faith Willie and the Hand Jive ---
