BTW, I thought Motherless Child was a Richie Havens tune, was Clapton’s a remake or something?

AFAIK, Motherless Child **ren** is written by Clapton. It was also used as the theme for a short lived network TV series “Not Necessarily the News” which was (I believe) a version of the britcom “Not the Nine 'O Clock News” Truly outlandish slide work, it’s catchy and fun, yet dark and broodish at the same time.

“Father will do, the best he can, when your mother is dead, lord.”

**upon review it appears the song was actually written by [Blind Willie Johnson and the Rev. Gary Davis](http://users.rcn.com/thomst/motherlesschildren.html)**

so i suppose richie could have recorded it as well. so nevermind.

damn this here interweb thingie, damn it to hell!
