I think the “Judge Chef” should have called them all in, took the win back and told them they would make a decision AFTER they reviewed the tape(s). If anyone wanted to fess up Now was the time. They they should have gone from there. The guy who thought up and made the Pizza was the clear winner.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again they should have a Tim Gunn-type mentor( Alton Brown would be a hoot)
As I understood it, being able to lock down the recipe on Day 1 and then replicate it on Day 2 was part of the challenge. Otherwise, why not just have them do all the cooking on Day 1 with the nutritionists there and then go out to the kids?
The point, I think, was to introduce the idea of cooking under strict dietary requirements, which is not what chefs typically do when they’re trying to impress someone. So they had one day to devise the recipes with the help of a nutritionist, and then they had to make that exact same recipe again the next day without just freestyling as they went along. As the viewer, I thought the expectations were crystal clear.
Instead of being shocked that people did it wrong, it seems the judges should have anticipated that happening and just reacted by saying “Well, precisely replicating your Day 1 recipe was part of the challenge and you didn’t do that. Maybe it’s not cheating, but it’s also not fulfilling the expectations for the challenge. Sort of like if we told you to make three dishes and you only made two.”
I really dislike Marissa a lot. Would love to see her go. What is it with some of the female chefs on the show? I’ve worked with female chefs and they weren’t all loud, manipulative and bitchy. I guess it makes good TV but they sure make a poor impression.
This show is starting to annoy me with all of the Kenmore kitchen remarks. I know Kenmore is a sponsor, but they could take it down a notch and not mention the word Kenmore ever five seconds.
What’s with all the snack food and kids food? Is that really all that challenging? I know the chef’s like to pretend it’s beneath them, but how challenging is it to make a TGIF meal? Nothing too Top Chef about that. I prefer the shows where they give them weird ingredients or asks them to prepare a specific dish.
