I would point out that this did not require any Kreskin-like abilities, as Montreal held Sam’s exclusive bargaining rights.
A bit of a premature call - at this time there is less than “an 80% chance Sam will be starting for a CFL team within five years”.
He’s too unreliable to make it in professional sports. Quitting is a red flag that most GMs will not forget.
He was always known as a disciplined hard worker.
If I had to speculate, I would imagine it’s very hard for a guy who thought of himself as a genuine NFL-caliber guy to be struggling to make the team in the CFL. (Apparently he has CFL-level talent but was struggling to adjust to the different style of play.) In that circumstance it might not have taken a lot of send him over the edge in frustration.
Possibly that, and possibly he’s had to deal with more of the predictable locker-room shit than he was prepared to, with possibly less support from the staff than he should have had.
