And then there’s Rocky and Mugsy in “Bugsy and Mugsy” (1957):
“I don’t know how you’s done it, but I know you’s done it!” 😃

And let’s not forget “HIgh Diving Hare” (1949) and “Knighty Knight Bugs” (1958), the latter a re-enactment of the King Arthur legend featuring noble knights like Sir Osis of Liver and Sir Loin of Beef!

Fearless Freep!

And Sir Osis of Liver, and Sir Loin of Beef. Went way over my head when I was six. Just a funny name for those guys. But my parents got it, and laughed.

One of the great things about Looney Tunes was that they were written for adults (though certainly not in a Ralph Bakshi sense), and adults would understand them, but that they were harmless enough that kids could enjoy them too.

I’ve never been able to find this one, it is one of the “Elmer chases Bugs through a TV studio and hilarity ensues” toons, but as Bugs is running by a phone booth, there’s a call, one of those game shows that used to call people at random, and they had a question: “What is 527 times 325” and Bugs rattles off with no hesitation “one hundred seventy one thousand two hundred and seventy five”\* and coins start pouring out of the coin return. Bugs looks at the camera and says, “If there’s one thing us rabbits can do, it’s multiply!” Went right over my head as a kid, but is funny now. 🙂

I was always fond of Yosemite Sam.

It always amused me that, no matter what kind of animal he was riding (horse, camel, elephant, dragon), he would always spur it on shouting “Hyah, mule! Hyah, mule!”

Thanks! I don’t think that’s on any of my Looney Toons DVDs.

I never knew the TV scenes were B&W. When Iw as a kid, everything was black and white.

I had the viewmaster of Star Trek before I got color TV, so I was really surprised to find the command uniforms were yellow/gold on TV, but nearly fluorescent green on Viewmaster. It was nearly the green of Kirk’s casual wrap around uniform. That material really didn’t photograph correctly!

Actually, it probably photographed just fine; my understanding is that those “yellow” uniform tops were actually a lime green material, which came out looking yellow when filmed for TV (due to the lights and the film stock). Thus, the pictures you saw on those Viewmaster reels were a truer representation of what those shirts actually looked like.

> The reason for the retcon was that the Command uniforms had never actually been gold at all in _The Original Series_ thanks to a trick of light and early color television. [_Star Trek_ premiered in 1966](https://screenrant.com/star-trek-picard-best-season-1-tos-reason/), just after the color television transition of ’65, when most networks began switching their broadcasts to at least 50% color. Desilu Productions, the studio producing _Trek_ for NBC, wanted to capitalize on this and demanded a color palette of bright, primary colors. In accordance with this directive, William Ware Theiss, the designer of the original Starfleet uniform, chose a distinctive palette for the crew: a bright cherry-red, a steel-toned blue, and lime green. The red and blues of the on-set fabrics maintained their color on the film stock of the day. But the green uniforms appeared gold on screen through a combination of studio lighting, velour material, and the film stock used.

### [Robin Hood Daffy: Yoicks!](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/robin-hood-daffy-yoicks/1005878)

Is the above mentioned short the funniest 5 minutes in the history of Funny? Whomst among us can say that it is not?! I am sorry to say that I cannot find the complete version online. That means you will have to find the whole thing somewhere else. You will not be disappointed, if you have a sense of humor. Sorry Republicans, but that rules all of you out! 🙂 🙂 I kid, I just like the joke so much. My beloved mom is a Republican!

Now then: Well, shucks. I can’t even post a part of this from YouTube. But you gotta look it up. Unless you don’t want to die from laughing.

I’ve seen publicity stills in which it’s clear that the Command shirts were green.

There’s a company that produces stuff like replica uniforms for Trekfans. They offer a choice between shirts of the original green and the gold that appeared on color TV screens.
