This Post is for your opinion of the best love songs of all time. Note I said LOVE song and not an ANTI-LOVE song. Let’s keep it to love songs. This way for people like me who enjoy great love songs (I CAN’T be the only one) they can get exposure to great ones. Top 5 Love Songs for me. 1. Nothing Else Matters- Metallica (their BEST song) 2. Most rock songs are lust songs. Love songs are quite rare. Back in the day, the only true writer of love songs was John Sebastian with The Lovin’ Spoonful. “Darling, Be Home Soon” is the best and truest love song ever. ---

The naysayers are right that the Tin Pan Alley/Broadway songwriters (whose names you almost never hear) are better than 95% of the pop music writers. Anyone who’s watched all the different Disney flicks can tell instantly which one’s the wanted a pop star (Elton John, Sting, Phil Collins) and which ones were by the others. We’ve Got Us - Steve and Eydie Romeo and Juliet - Dire Straights Nyeh. Some others. ---

It also depends upon the relationship, love can cover a lot of ground, The Living Years - Mike & the Mechanics would not be considered a love song in many minds, but it is when you think more deeply. ---

RikWriter, I don’t think the Temptations wrote Earth Angel, although you might be saying that you like that version best. The writers are Jesse Belvin and Curtis Williamson. The Penguins had the most remembered version of that song (IMHO)in 1955. I saw them in concert once!
