It was apparently true, though it was a bit tabloidy an article, so accuracy should not be relied upon.
IIRC, he was a passenger in the car, and that’s actually pretty common at the track. I was at the BMW Performance Driving School once and they had to give a guy a shirt from the gift shop because he threw up riding with an instructor. What gets you is the elevation changes…
What I like is LeBlanc is also a bike guy (he was the first person in the US to get an RSV Nera) so there should be some motorcycle content even without Hammond.
LeBlanc was excellent going around the track in the reasonably priced car - great lines through the turns.
I guess the idea is to broaden the demographic as well but he seems to be a genuine fan.

Eddie Jordan? Suddenly my interest has waned…
That’s quite a lot of people. Seems more like Old Top Gear with proper experts. On balance, I’m glad they haven’t just tried to trot out three new people in the old format, but I really hope they keep doing the used car challenges.
Yeah…ugh. I was meh about Evans. Slightly intrigued by LeBlanc. Now I just completely lost interest. Although…I might watch just for the trainwreck factor.
Ok, who am I kidding? I’m gonna watch it anyways because I have nothing else to do except jibber jabber on SDMB and play cookie clicker.
So now, besides LeBlac, Evans, and Jordan…also Sabine Shmitz, which could be cool, and two other nobodies. To quoth my friend:
