I mean there is an incredible amount of information on the internet, but that does not make all of it “the type of stuff you hear about all the time” to quote the OP.

> How about [Entertainment Weekly](http://www.ew.com/ew/chart/movie/0,6115,~1~~,00.html)? They’re about as mainstream as entertainment press gets, and they list weeks in release, per screen averages, etc. The same information is in their magazine, also. \*\*

I don’t think this takes pldennison’s point any further really. Re-read the OP, look at Cheesesteak’s quote . We are talking about the _headlines_, what you read all the time, what is _announced_, not what listings you can find if you look for them. My point is that in my opinion, high earning 6th weekend figures are what should be Big News, while what a movie makes on its opening is a big irrelevant yawn that should be buried in the listings for people to look up on Yahoo or whatever if they want.

Oh, for Pete’s sake. Is the question now, “Why does the media report what it reports?”

Several posters have stated that exactly the information the OP asks about is available in one or more formats, and several media outlets report on how a movie does each and every week of it’s run.

Why isn’t that part in 34-Point type? Because no one really cares.

Does there now remain a General Question here?
