Since I am not Saudi this person is not one of “my” leaders. I leave it to the **Ibn Saud monarchy** to explain why it continues to pay these people and promote them. There is nothing for Monty, a Mormon or myself, not saudi, not salafi, to “deal with” other than idiot bigots who continue to promote hatred and the blaming of broad groups. ---

For the record the “Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia” is a completely powerless position (it probably does have influence though). The position was abolished back in the 1960’s by King Faisal and its role subsumed into the Ministry of Justice; the title was restored back in 1993, shorn of its previous powers. Its also a political sinecure and damn near heredity; all the holders bar one have been from a single family. In short for a U.S example, its more akin to a statement on constitutional law from a law Professor at a major law school, not like an Act of Congress or a Supreme Court decision. ---

I’m not faulting you, I get mad and bothered too. I don’t see how religion is doing you any benefit. This thread is a perfect example of why I dislike religion. It drives people apart, not together. As long as there is religion there will be an in group out group dynamic. ---

This is also a stupid mistake: Someone’s antipathy towards religion doesn’t mean they have a “religious belief in the non-religion”, or however you’d phrase that in idiomatic English. It’s entirely possible to function without any form of unquestioned dogma, even if you dislike religion. ---
