OK, no particular order, limiting myself to popular music of the second half of the 20th century: Beatles Beasite Boys Who Rolling Stones Stereolab Pavement Nirvana Portishead Public Enemy Radiohead Led Zeppelin (OK that was 11) And some solo artists Zappa Bowie Lennon Albert King John Lee Hooker Bob Marley Hendrix Presley We could open a whole can of worms with jazz groups/artists and classical/international music. ---

In no particular order Beatles Luna Jets to Brazil Sebadoh Pavement Weezer Descendents/All Minutemen/Firehose Shudder to think (on Dischord) Early Bad Religion This is a difficult question though. There are so many other bands that deserve to be on this list. ---
