“Those were the Days” was not a pre-existing song – it was composed to be the show’s theme

Well, there is a point to be made that with “actual names” Elendil’s Hair did imply that the songs should be pre existing or at least not made specifically with the show in mind, but I don’t think that technically speaking Dolores Reborn broke the premise.

But by definition, every theme qualifies, because a song has to be “titled” in order to be copyrighted, which they all are.

True. I guess that the idea is that a lot of them are called something like “Knight Rider Theme”, while others have actual names that a lot of people doesn’t know.

Nowhere is it stated that the songs have to be pre-existing.
