Seems like a pretty fuzzy category - most of the stuff that was on the radio from 1972-1978 would qualify, AFAICT.
Gotta admit I’ve never heard the term before. I’ve always thought of it as “mid-70s mellow rock.”
Reading the Wiki entry, it seems a pretty strange and rather useless term. “For example, Michael Jackson’s Thriller (1982) is accepted as yacht rock, but Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours (1977) is not.”. WTF?
Anyway, for this game using the “formal” definition does not make sense, does it?

It’s definitely a thing. It was the subject of a recent Family Guy episode , and that wasn’t the first time I’d heard the term.
I think the list starter meant for this to be actual yacht rock, but it looks like that ship has sailed.
