The song was written by Piero Umiliani, and its original title was “Mah Nà Mah Nà”. It was first heard in a 1968 Italian film entitled “Sweden: Heaven and Hell”. Considered a pseudo-documentary in what was (at the time called) ‘Mondo’ (world) style, the film was made up made up of nine segments focusing on different aspects of sexuality in Sweden such as lesbian nightclubs, porn films, the swinging lifestyle of married couples, and the sex education of teenagers. The film also examined drug addiction, alcoholism, and suicides in Sweden.
