Pointedly ignoring how deeply wounded I am that some people who posted here seem to be willing to blow off this event for **matt** ’s evil plans, I thought I’d give this thread a little bump. The event, should it happen despite the forces aligned against it, is scheduled for just over two months from now. Scary, isn’t it? Bitter? Me? Perish the thought! 😃 ---

I feel horrible. I’m a big idiot and the worst father in history. I just friggin’ dawned on me that that weekend is my kids’ birthday, so it looks like I’m going to have to bow out after all. Damn it. I was so looking forward to this that I was blinded. I’m going to have to go with plan B. NYC in August for **Twisty/Yojimbo**. But there is a good chance I’ll be in Niagara Falls at some point this year, and I’d still be jazzed for a mini-me-Tor-Dope thigamajig. I am so beating myself up over being a total moron, here. ---

You people couldn’t have this a month EARLIER, could you? Well, no, 'cos then I’d be too busy at a wedding in Toronto. Despite the fact that Toronto is about a sixteen-hour drive away, I may well be crazy enough to visit that city twice in 30 days. Details as events warrant. ---

Here ye, here ye! Less than one month to the **Toronto Dopefest**! My list of tentative and not-so-tentative attendees currently looks like: Kwyjibo Trinity Booker57 Eonwe LaurAnge Charmian Sunspace Mnementh iampunha Lissla Lissar Little Nemo theotherangel drollman andygirl (and guest) mnemosyne Dr\_Paprika lno Kunimitsu New and improved Scott 🙂 So, twenty-one (including me) so far. (Calling **globe-trotter** – we did tell you about this at **Cranky** ’s mini-Fest.) Four people have taken up local Doper’s offers for sleeping space (that I know of, anyway). Of course, that sort of presumes that “TornontoDope” and this event are one in the same. 🙂 We will, of course, raise a glass to **Jack Batty** and his kid (especially since the genesis of the idea for this event started during an evening of drinking with him in San Francisco). The schedule (thus far) is as follows: Saturday (July 13th) 1:00 PM - Hanlan’s Point - Everyone should aim to be on the ferry that departs for Hanlan’s Point @ 1:00 PM (keeners can take the 12:30) - congregate to the left of the exit (as you disembark the ferry). I’ll endeavor to be holding a sign with “SDMB” written on it. (Anyone who remembers **matt** and **detop** with their “Straight Dope” sign in Montreal will appreciate why… :)) - Lunch and drinks will be provided, 'cause Toronto is just that hospitable. RAIN ALTERNATIVE: If at noon, it is raining and doesn’t appear to be about to stop, we’ll meet at Milano (325 King Street W) for billiards and chat. Email me to get my cell phone number in case there’s any doubt (please mention who you are and why you’re writing). Saturday (July 13th) 7:00 PM - Montana’s (145 John Street) - I’ll arrange to have a section (or most of one) upstairs set aside for our use, again under the name “SDMB.” Sunday (July 14th) 11:00 AM - [Movenpick](http://www.movenpickcanada.com/eng/trad.htm) (165 York Street) - Reservation will be under “SDMB” Anyone want to nominate any other potential attendees, or comment on the plans? ---
