# Toronto - SRO hotels or rooming houses

It’s proving difficult to find single room occupancy hotels or rooming houses in Toronto on the Internet.
Does anyone have any knowledge of what might be available?

Rooming houses are only legal in certain areas of Toronto, so that might be why they’re harder to find than you expected.
If it were me, I’d just check Craigslist under [Rooms & Shares](http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/roo/), but maybe that’s not exactly what you’re looking for.

Yes, I’ve been there. I’m not really looking for a roommate situation at this point, just something cheap and transient for a month or two.

Have you checked out [hostels.com](http://hostels.com) and hostelworld?
Many hostels offer inexpensive private rooms. Not every one will be open to a long term situation, but it’s not uncommon for students, interns and the like to use hostels over the period of a month or so.

If it’s for the summer, you could try university dorms. A few friends of mine had good luck with those.
