Toronto (with a sneaky Ice Hockey question)

The bike train is all well and fine as long as there are enough bikers to peddle it. The fewer the number of bikers, the thougher the peddling to get the train up to speed.

Three of my favourite Toronto architecture things that nobody notices:

– The old Bank of Commerce building on King Street West (Commerce Court North, IIRC). Look up–way up–and notice the tall heads carved in the stone near the top of the building.

I absolutely love this building, and it’s right outside my office window. I’m kinda glad I work near it instead of in it, or else I wouldn’t get to see it every day.

Queen St West from Parliment to almost Ossington is a fun shopping area, with some good food. The west end of it has lots of little independent stores.
Niagara-on-the-Lake is a bit twee, but the wineries are fun. I highly recommend Stratus, Southbrook, and Sunnybrook Farms. And the local something-or-other just put out a map with a lot of the local farms who sell direct, and the restaurants and pubs that use local products. I was in NotL a couple of weekends ago, and it’s blueberry/raspberry season.

For shits and giggles, tour the east end of Oakville by jumping fences betwen back yards and swimming across swimming pools along the way. (My firends and I did that as a teenager there.)
