As others have pointed out, the mayor of Toronto isn’t a particularly powerful job; he can’t override council votes and very little executive power is vested in the office. It’s a job that basically gives you political capital though the ability to appoint people to committees, as well as the weight of the office. If you piss away your political capital, then you become a lame duck mayor. In a situation like this, the city simply continues running in almost precisely the manner it would have anyway. ---

I lived in Toronto for 10 years. For sheer publicity value, this fat buffoon is the greatest thing to happen to Toronto (“the Good”) in years. Once this train wreck is removed from office, Toronto will sink back into dull obscurity. ---
