There should be, in my opinion, some sort of reward on this forum (these forums) for those members who fill out their public profile completely. Peace, mangeorge ---

I like people, and posting here is often like having a conversation for me. Knowing about posters enhances that experience for me. Especially a general location. Sorry - I like being semi-anonymous. There’s no particular reason; I’m not really different in real life than I am on the computer (including having a warped sense of humour), but I just would prefer my two personas to be separate. ---

What is it about knowing someone’s general location that is relevant? (I’m not being snarky. I like knowing too, but don’t want to base any personal judgments on location biases that I might have, you leftist academic do-gooder.) ---

How would people be able to tell if you’d filled out your public profile accurately? And who’s going to pay for the coffee cups? ---

People see my locatin and think “liberal who has access to the real best BBQ in the world”. In Oakland. I’m also sometimes curious about gender. And occupation, etc. ---

What’s this about free mugs?? I know I get the preconcieved notions that I am some 12 yo girl because of my username and have sparse info in my profile, but that is because I would prefer to be judged on the merit of the content of my posts rather than what might be speculated by my “outward appearance.” No really, I want a mug… ---

For example, if someone says “soda,” “soft-drink” or “pop,” I’ll immediately check the location field to see where it is that people use those terms. That was a tough sentence to punctuate.
