Wow, I wouldn’t have guessed him.
And funnily enough, after I posted that, I again forgot to go look him up, so thanks for telling me!

I’m feeling better. I teared up too during the “passing the torch” scene, and had to hurriedly brush away the tears before the house lights came on (or risk my manly reputation).
Ned Beatty, huh? I wouldn’t have guessed that either. I also find it significant that a question left hanging for eight hours was simultaneously answered by two different posters, but I’m sure sure what it’s significant of.
Saw it yesterday with GonzoGal. Glad we didn’t bring the kids, would’ve been far too traumatic for the pre-school set. But we loved it. Perfect cap off of the series. But for some reason, those 3D glasses always make my eyes water. A lot. Particularly at the scene with Andy passing the toys to Bonnie. Must’ve been some weird depth of field issues in that scene. yeah… that’s would explain it.
I agree that another movie would be probably be redundant, but while there were similarities to TS2, I agree that this covered new ground, where I thought there would be none left. So maybe there is room for more, but I doubt it. at best, short adventures with the characters and no more real thematic stuff. (i.e. maybe a 30minute show like the Aladdin or Little Mermaid ones… does Disney still do that? Last one I remember was for Lilo & Stitch)
The Incinerator, El Buzzo, Mr. Totilla-head (though I thought it was a Pita), and the ridiculously involved breakout scheme were all classic scenes. And I’d thought they’d exhausted the archetypes for new toys, but I loved most of the new characters, especially Pricklepants, Big Baby, Chuckles, and the cymbal monkey. (Creeeeeeepy!)
It was sad to see Woody lose Bo, but it was probably a good idea to cut things down to the “core” gang of toys. That’s the trouble with many sequels. You keep picking up new characters and then have to squeeze them in to the next one. But this way made a lot of sense.
The Toy/Parent metaphor was never clearer than when Woody watched from the box as Mom faced the same emotions as he did over Andy leaving. I don’t see the ending as Woody choosing his friends over Andy, but rather that Woody always said, “We’ll be there for Andy as long as he needs us.” and he finally realized that he’d done that. And Andy didn’t need them any more.
Beautifully done, glad we made it one of our 2 or 3 in-theater movies for the year.
Finally saw it today and loved it. Was definitely tearing up at the scene between Andy and Bonnie at the end.
The Barbie and Ken dom / sub relationship was hilarious.
Anyone else think the play scene in Bonnie’s room was inspired by Gilda Radner’s character Judy? The way she was romping around the room made me think of Gilda in her Brownie uniform.
Had to bump this because I finally saw it, And it blew me away. And I’m not the only one who got someting in my eye? Good. My friends all made fun of me. Heartless Bastards!
