Worth the price of a new toy just to see these guys in uniform.
Last year, pure luck let me win one of those 6 foot(2 meter) toy filled stockings. I brought it to Toys for Tots. It was a deposit box at the main branch of our local bank. Got a lot of smiles from that. This year I’ll just cut them a check. Unless I win again :eek:
This year, I was in charge of organizing Toys for Tots at our school. We managed to get about 200 toys! Considering the fact that it’s so incredibly hard to make so many of the teenagers at our school give a damn, this is definately an accomplishment.
We had this problem last year. We kept our Toys for Tots barrel in our main foyer so that it would be easier for people to drop off their toys. However, one day our gifted resources teacher noticed a kid carrying a stuffed animal down the hall that looked an awful lot like one of the ones in our barrel. She checked, and sure enough, the kid had stolen it from Toys for Tots. She chased the kid down the hall. The kid’s response? “But I really like it! Can I keep it?” :smack: This year, the barrel is securely guarded in our gifted resource room. It means that kids have to go out of their way to drop off toys, but at least no one can steal any. It’s just a shame that we have to do that.
