Being attractive to the opposite sex is a very powerful evolved trait, more so than the desire to be the 10% smarter. Like 64% of all statistics, the one in the OP was probably made up. It’s also common to hear that if women were offered a pill that would guarantee a 10% increase in their IQ, but the had the side effect of making their ass grow 10% bigger, most would not take the pill. And it’s not a very good deal anyway. A 10% increase in IQ score isn’t that much and probably won’t noticeably improve the life of most people, so why would you want it so desperately that you risk even a superficial detrimental effect? Of course if you have a tiny ass you should take the deal. ---

I wonder how men would go with the corresponding proposition? Assume the option was that 10 IQ points was rated as 1 inch of Penis length. How many men would trade away IQ to get a bigger dick and how many would happily reduce their dick size to get smarter? ---

I think that’s an interesting way to phrase it - would women (or men in your example) who seem to bristle at this stat - also be willing to trade their current cup size for more IQ. Of course - it slightly different for women. I think it’s more powerful for them. In general it helps them in that it can be obvious to everyone - and helps them attract a mate. Generally for men - unless you are the kind of guy who sends a dick pic out trying to get OKCupid dates - by the time it might actually help you - generally you are past the hard part (getting her clothes off). Also - I think for women - there is a decent percentage that could use (in the sense that it is uncomfortable for them) a breast reduction, while other than quite a few joker aside - I doubt more than 1% has a penis that is large enough to cause them issues. ---

Hmm… as a male, I wouldn’t trade IQ for penis size (I’m not well endowed but I’m also happy the way it is), but I might be willing to trade some of my IQ for a more physically fit body. I’d have to think about it, that’s for sure. If I were physically stronger and faster and looked fitter, it might be worth it to be a bit dumber. ---

Whether a deal like that is wise depends on one’s priorities. I don’t have particularly high standards, so I don’t need large flashy breasts. On the other hand, I could really use some more intelligence to excel in my hobbies and future career choice. Even 10 more IQ points would be awesome in my opinion. But I can see how big breasts/penis would be a better option for some people. ---

I never get emails promising to increase my bust size but I have gotten quite a bit of spam over the years to enlarge my non-existent penis. I’m not saying it’s not important at all to women, I’m just thinking that it might be pretty close to the same. There are an awful lot of guys who are insecure about their penis size. Even in trauma situations in our emergency department I’ve encountered guys who nervously make jokes about or apologize (I kid you not!) about the size of their penis when they’re in medical peril! I think on this board where intelligence is so praised and almost fetishized you might not find people (men or women) who are willing to admit they’d give up intelligence for more inches on their bust or penis. I would not trade intelligence for bigger boobs. I’m no brainiac so I need all I the pitiful amount I already have. On the flip side, I wouldn’t give up anything to get more brains either. Anecdotal data and all, but the smartest people I’ve met are usually the most miserable. I figure it’s because they know just how screwed the world is and the rest of us are blissfully unaware. Plus, I think big boobs would look funny on me, so there’s that. ---

If the question could be retooled for men, would you knock 25% off your IQ, for 150% longer penis? (e.g. a pretty sharp 120 IQ and a slightly underwhelming 5" penis, for an IQ of 90 and a 7.5" rod of thunder?). Yuh, I’m no genius, but I’m not stupid. I can’t remember the figure, but in my community college Psyc 101 course, my IQ was in the 120s. On the other end, I’m pretty damn average, and it’s never been an issue or barrier to anything in my life. I’d keep my wits, thank you very much. The thought of being your dull-eyed, mouth-breathing dolt, with a nice package is not pretty. However, I could see a lot of dumb guys, with no life, horny as hell, and a small pecker ending up like **Simple Jack** with a huge schlong. Uh huh, great decision there, Einstein. ---

Oh - I think it’s absolutely true that men are just as insecure about their penis - I simply don’t think it is as helpful. Most guys have trouble in the getting women to go out with them department. I mean - if I see a woman - and I want to date her - the hardest part is getting her to go out with me and be interested in me. Once she is actually willing to have sex with me - that’s usually a pretty good indicator that she likes me. While there are plenty of women where size is important - most aren’t going to drop a guy if he’s packing six - while she’d like a seven or more. She never sees this ahead of time. She’s kind of screwed if she is a size queen - cause she can’t really tell ahead of time without looking like a slut. So while I think the vast majority of men wouldn’t be complaining if they magically gained an extra inch - I don’t think most are thinking it really is going to help them with women (except for repeat requests). This of course ignores guys who think they are smaller than they really are - cause all they see is porn - or guys that don’t have the confidence or are embarrassed so bad it effects them asking women out in the first place. Which based on what you say might be higher than I expect… I’ve never thought to worry about my penis size when being examined (although I will admit to saying a silent prayer “don’t get hard, don’t get hard”). It’s hard (no pun intended) to project ample size and be soft at the same time… ---

And yet another example of how often quality is confused with quantity. Really, as soon as something new gets out there that allows people to play the "“is mine as big as yours” game, it instantly becomes about something that is easy quantifiable. _My camera has more megapixels._ (No silly, the quality is in the lens. More megapixels is only relevant if you’'re going to blow up photo’s to the size of roadside billboards) _My facebook page has more likes._(So what? What are you going to do with all those likes? Did that course in “social media”" you took actually last longer then one afternoon?) _My boobs are bigger._ Sigh. ---

I’m not exactly well-endowed, and I’ve never had a problem finding a boyfriend. Maybe these women ought to put what little brain power they have into figuring out what the real issue is. Hint: Maybe it’s their insecurity. ---

I have big boobs, and I can definitively say that I would trade them for more intelligence. It’s not that I don’t like having big boobs - I do. I just value intelligence more. ---
