Transgender activists pressure Always to Womens symbol of feminine hygiene products

Under all the faux de all is a real discussion though.

Most of us would agree that we should have some understanding of the sensitivities of those in minority positions. And we also would agree that understanding those sensitivities has limits.

I’d exclude from meaningful discussion those who do not agree with both of those. And like others I dismiss the fake outrage of crap like this and the war on Christmas which holiday tradition mandates is soon to start.

But there is real discussion that can be had over how to respect discomfort of some as a default and where it gets fuzzy and where silly.

This case illustrative of silliness by all who care on either side maybe. But the broader issue can get murkier.

It’s really not that murky when you accept that transmen are men (regardless of their plumbing) and transwomen are women (regardless of the plumbing) because sex and gender are two separate concepts.

It’s really not that hard to grasp, either, once you strip away all the bullshit and the “but it’s new and weird !”. To whit : I’m a bog standard cis man. I never had any problem with that much even though I don’t really conform to some expected masculine behaviours or stereotypes or expectations. To put it most simply, and if I may quote Woody Harrelson : I’m just a regular type dude…with a big-ass dick…

If tomorrow I lost said mind-bogglingly massive penis in a freak acupuncture accident, would you say I’m not a man any more ? Obviously not. Least I hope not. Then we’ve agreed that plumbing is irrelevant to gender. I think I’m a man, feel like a man and would still do so were I to become a Ken doll. Case closed on my gender.

Some regular type dudes have a vagina.
Those regular type dudes are just as miffed about being told they’re really women as I would be if you asserted that’s what I am no matter what I think.
That’s it.
Nobody out there identifies as an attack helicopter.

I don’t see a big deal. If you’re such a moron that you didn’t know “feminine products” are only for biological women, then you probably don’t know what the “woman” symbol means anyway. Obviously “anybody can have a period” is factually wrong and equally moronic though.

NO, transwomen are transwomen and transmen are transmen. Not REAL men and women. Just because you choose to identify as someone doesnt change that fact.

NO, they dont.

And WOMEN have periods. Not “People”.

All true.

Granted this story hasnt hit the MSM much but many women already angry that trans - men can compete in womens games and earn title 9 scholarships are finding this to be another insult.

Jesus. Is there a term for TERFs that are men? TEMs? Maybe we can start going with TEBs for all of them.

Well men can be RFs, but I doubt that’s the case with this specimen.

Given the source of your “story”, I can see why.

But wouldn’t it be better if the man that the Gay Agenda forces you to same-sex marry turns out to have a vagina?

So “prominent” and so “feminist” that there is no point in identifying her by name as it wouldn’t be a relevant fact for readers, apparently.

Urbanredneck, you really ought to apply a few critical thinking skills to the articles you chose to generate discussion with. That article is a pointless piece of crap designed to enable smug traditionalists to point and laugh at the gender activists, regardless of which particular group of rights they are fighting for.

I think we’re beyond asking him to stop reading crap like this uncritically. Given his subsequent comments, I think he could well have written the article.

Is it my fault CNN doesnt want to cover things that might possibly show trans in a negative light?

Uh, did you just say that women aren’t people? Or that people who don’t have periods aren’t women?

Dude, I didn’t stop being a women when I hit menopause. And I;m pretty sure I’m legally a person in this country.

Anyway, I found your post personally offensive, despite being an ordinary cis-gender women, assigned female at birth.

It is your fault that you fell for a story from The Daily Mail.

It would have been easier if you just titled the thread, “I hate trans people.”

All I can say is that if I were transgender, the one thing I’d be more than happy to give up would be periods. Menopause for the win!

So… because I’ve stopped having periods I’m no longer a woman? Or is it because I’m a woman I’m not a “people”?

Holy crap, dude, you’ve managed to insult not just transmen, transwomen, and non-binary people, you’ve also insulted the 51% of the human race that are ciswomen.

Any body else you’d like insult or assert are not people?

Dude, why do you put so much hate-filled thought into something that doesn’t affect you in any way?

I feel nauseated for pointing this out, because of all the other disgusting things he did say, but he didn’t say what you claim. He said:

The plain reading of that phrasing with the scare quotes is that women in particular have periods, it does not imply that women are not a subset of people. And the explicit emphasis on WOMEN makes clear that he’s claiming being a woman is a necessary condition for having a period, not that having a period is a necessary condition for being a woman.

You know, if he needs to specify that will have periods, NOT PEOPLE, what does that mean? If I say, “people run marathons”, no one thinks I mean every single person runs marathons. And no one thinks that every single person has periods, either.

I’m trying to think of a comparable construction where you wouldn’t be insulting someone. “The police don’t hassle people, they hassle criminals.” Suggesting criminals aren’t quite human. You’d never say, “people don’t fly airplanes, pilots fly airplanes.” That’s just not a natural construction.
