Between Bozeman and Riverton, I assume you’ll stop for a few hours to drink in the incredible Grand Teton Mountains. When my then-4-year-old son saw them, he said “Wow! Is that a hologram?” 🙂 (He had just learned the word from Star Wars). Riverton is real Indian country – excellent choice. (Pretty good chance of clear skies, too, which I’m sure was your main criterion). ---

To be fair, I was spoiled by the comparison to the Melbourne museum, which, at the time, was a truly great museum, but I wasn’t impressed by the Smithsonia when I visited. Fortunately there a lot of choice – orchids, air & space, memorials etc, but because of the way they handled the crowds and the exhibits, some of it was no better than seeing the same thing on TV. I can’t say I would recomend Arlington unless you are American. I have an uncle there, and I visit, but… it’s a nice place to visit. ---

Ok, and travel seems to be a /lot/ less difficult than it was just after 9/11. I haven’t been back post-inaugeration, but I find it hard to believe any recent changes have made it that bad again. ---

I hope Quartz has confirmed hotel reservations already. Pretty much all hotels near the line of totality sold out for that date as soon as they went on sale. ---
