I too would like to join your alliance and subscribe to your newsletter. I too am a neophyte, although I’m just shy of breaking into the Top Ten list of Ranks Gained. But I understand, given the 60-limit, if you don’t want young villages so close to the start of the real competition. I was shocked (SHOCKED!) that SDMB was listed as #7 of all the alliances. ---

Let’s attack the largest alliance on the server, MoW”. MoW has around 200 members or more. We had 50 at the time. Every player of MoW we attacked was booted from their alliance while their former comrades turned a cold shoulder on them. No one wants to mess with us! Dopers are feared! You don’t even want to know what happened to the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioc alliance when we went against them. Lambs to the slaughter it was. There was discussion about server 5, but we’ve decided that it is best to focus on one server at a time. Server 7 will likely finish around June or July, and we’ll probably restart again when that reboots. ---

All are welcome. The 60-player limit is a total non-issue; the more the merrier. You don’t need to wait until you have an Embassy to contact me; joining the alliance is mostly a formality in the early stages. The important part is joining the alliance forums, which are separate from the game. This means you can join the forums before you join the alliance. And you’ll want to do that asap. We have the forums on lockdown to keep away prying eyes. This means you have to register an account, which I (or one of the other mods) will then validate. It would help if you used your SDMB name as your travian name, but that’s not strictly required. Just let me know via IGM (in-game message) who you are on the SDMB. We have a couple dozen dopers who started from the beginning, most of which are quite large now. We also brought in a few ringers we met during a previous server, plus another couple dozen players we recruited in-game. All told, our alliance isn’t the biggest, but it is no joke. Anyone starting now will have the benefit of a large alliance to feed them resources to get them up to speed quickly, and also a safe-haven to expand into. Our stronghold is quite strong. heh. Anyway, hope to see more of you join. As I said, the more the merrier. ---

Yeah, you don’t need to worry about all the alliance and “pushing” stuff while you’re starting out. Just focus on the basics, as outlined in the Orientation sticky in the Recruiting / Orientation forum. ---

How often do the games restart? I joined in server 4 before I read this post. It doesn’t seem like you guys have any presence there. ---

We are only on server 7. Each standard server resets once a year. Server 7 restarted July 30th, so we’re just past halfway in. The speed server resets three times per year because everything goes three times as fast. There’s no reason you have to stay on server 4. You can hop over to server 7 at will. You can actually keep both accounts going if you like; many people play on multiple servers. No dopers that I’m aware of play anywhere but server 7, but other players play multiple servers at once. I think they’re nuts, but then again my role has a higher time overhead than the average account. ---
