Trayvon Martin's mom getting 8 months paid leave.

My point was that PTO is not inherently transferable. What you’ve just said concedes this point.

I don’t think that word means what you think it means.

It doesn’t matter if PTO is “inherently transferable”. Is it transferable in the closed system of the place where Trayvon’s mother works? That is clearly is a “yes”.

The real question is if a supervisor there could have said that despite the PTO being donated, the organization would not approve eight months?

In my company we could cover one person being out 20 days easier that 20 people being out on one day but not as easy as 20 people being out on twenty differnt days. (to use the examples upthread). That doesn’t mean that companies that could do something different should be required to have their policy the same as my company.

Fear Itself, your last couple responses have been a one-line “Nu-uh!”. Do you actually have anything to add?

My responses have consistently exceeded the the content of your posts.

Yes, of course. I think the OP assumes that she has not just absconded.
The question it asks is whether it is fair or appropriate. IMO the answer is no.

The supervisor should have final say and I’m sure the rules of their donation scheme would require final approval for all leave. In this case, politically, refusal would have put them in a difficult position.
