Trekker or Trekkie

I’m not either because Star Trek aspires to being merely tolerable in book… Star Wars is where it’s at.

But as far as I’m concerned, Trekker implies a person who Treks, and nobody who merely watches a TV show is doing any Trekking. Trekker is a title for chubby guys who live in their parents basement and mistake watching Star Trek for having a life. They don’t want to be called Trekkie, because they think Trekkie is belittling. And IT IS belittling - you’re a mere fan of a mere TV show, and that’s just fine until you want to elevate it to worshipful Trekker status. If admitting to being a Star Trek fan isn’t at least a little bit self-deprecating, you need to re-evaluate your life.

Like I said in the OP, if you just want to rag on Trek fans, use another thread.

Warning issued for threadshitting. This is deeply obnoxious and nowhere close to the topic either. Don’t do it again.

All Trekkies are geeks, but not all geeks are Trekkies.

Yes, with a space between the words as God intended.

Heh, reminds me of when Transformers fans went by the moniker “transfans.” Yeah, not so much anymore…
