I hope:

[ul] [3] Wearing a baseball cap sideways[/ul]

is also on the list.

Oversized pants, thongs, tattoos and writing on clothes would also be on my list.

Why do so many people have a problem with thongs? They are the most comfortable underwear I have ever owned. Thongs themselves shouldn’t be targeted, just the raunchy tendency for young women to have them peeking (or glaring) out the tops of their pants. Not sexy at all. But I firmly believe that anyone who shudders at the thought of thongs has either never tried them or got a size that was too small.

OK, now I feel like I should be the founding member the BTTS (Better Treatment of Thongs Society).

I’m not sure who it was that said “teenage girls that pretend to be bi”, but I am so with you! 100%. It’s not a fashion statement or a way to get guys. It’s who you are. Girls that pretend only make it that much harder for those of us who really are bi.

Oh, and I definitely have to put in a vote for those _Fast and the Furious_ wanna be cars…Wimps. Give me a classic car with a big block, flows, headers, actual chrome, and racing wheels any day.

A comment or addition to the baseball cap thing; people who just have to bend the damn straight brim into an upside down U and wear it that way. The things come with straight brims for a reason.

I wore a hat when I was a courier and, it never fails, but we had to get a couple of ‘good ol’ boyz’ who just had to bend the brims into an upside down U and the hats looked like shit that way.

And I’m defending my right to dislike it. Sorry if you were offended.

> Also, groovy, copacetic, and "gimme five” are all still very much a part of colloquial speech in America, they are used all the time. I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for black culture’s linguistic influence to dissipate.

Look, quit trying to make everything a racial issue. First of all, race has nothing to do with it. Second of all, “groovy” was a white expression if ever I heard one. Third, I haven’t heard it in at least 20 years, except as a joke. If people are saying “groovy” now, then it’s because it’s made a comeback, like bell-bottoms and platform shoes. (You DO realize that those fashions had been out of style for the last 25 years?) Trends tend to cycle like that (unfortunately).

**blowero** , how is what you are doing any different? And, I’m bringing up race because race is relevant here. How can you honestly believe it is not prejudiced to wish characteristics of another race, such as their lingo, would just “go away.” We’re not taking about bell-bottoms here.

Second, you have been consistently misunderstanding me, and its getting old fast. I was not saying that groovy was derived from African American speech. I was refuting your point that old phrases like groovy ever completely disappear from our collective lexicon; hence my contention that phat and other expressions that are derived from African American speech will not be “going away” either.

Another thong defender here.

I don’t know if any men have mentioned they wished thongs would “go away.” If so, what do you care? You’re not the ones wearing them, and they’re UNDERWEAR. You can’t even SEE them unless a girl strips down to it and if that is the case, you should be jumping for joy that you have a half naked chick in front of you, not balking at her undies.

I love my thongs. They are way comfy. Give me thong underwear, jeans, a tank top and thong sandles and I am the happiest girl alive. 🙂

1. Robust, scalable, end-to-end B2B e-business solutions that enable dynamic Global 2000 end clients to optimize value-added mission-critical information. Oh … and the company that offers the “solution” has a swoosh in their logo, too.

2. Dale Earnhardt worship. It’s actually on the rise 'round here, with about one out of every ten trucks on the road having some memorial to him in the back window.

3. Second the “street talk” grammar and accent.

Drop the squabbles.
Agree to disagree and lets get on with the good thread.
Pleated front, high waisted, trousers for women. They make their belly’s look big, like they are pregnant or on their period and give them big asses.

I am amazed that no one has brought up the insanely loud music systems people have in their cars. If I can hear the “boom” from your car from the back of a store while you are parked out front, it’s too loud. If it makes my rearview mirror vibrate when you are behind me, IT"S TOO LOUD. What is the point of these loud systems? “Oooh, there’s a guy who will be deaf by the time he’s thirty, but what a great system he has!” I could go into business selling hearing aids to these people in five years and do very well.

I take solace in the fact that these idiots are prematurely destroying their hearing.

_Slight hijack_

On the news, in Florida, a city called Ft. Pierce is ticketing people with loud stereos. $50 fine if the noisy thing can be heard 50 feet away! They’re going after car stereos! Hurray! I wish more cities would do that. Mine has a noise law, but the lazy cops never enforce it.

_End hijack_

The next person who utters the phrase “It’s all good” around me gets a serious beating.

Idiots talking loudly on their cell phones

Reality TV

Sitcoms starring comedians - It worked with Seinfeld and Raymond, and that’s it.

I also would like to take this moment to witness that I \*like \* thongs (on women, that is). Thank You

“It’s all good” can die.

Thong underwear is the best!

Low rise jeans are great as long as the person isn’t phat. (he-he)

Clunky friggin’ gigantic platform friggin’ shoes. Hate 'em.

Nail polish that is anything other than a shade of red, pink, or orange

If the shoe fits…

But, everyone is right, this is not the place for this. I’ve reread this thread and I still feel justified in my responses, but if this debate must be continued one of us should start another thread in the Pit or GD. I apologize for this long deviation from the OP.

Trends I would like to see go away:

Inequality, intolerance, and fundamentalism, and curling as an Olympic sport (what’s next checkers and hopscotch?)

Resurrecting old trends and passing them off as new because you can’t think of anything new that’s worth a crap. This would, of course, put the Gap completely out of business.

Examples:
The afforementioned Capri pants
Non-white T-shirts w/pockets.
Standard 2x2 roller skates. Skechers apparently thinks these are cool enough to bring back from the dead.
I’m still waiting for the return of those really skinny skateboards from the 70’s.
