Trendy buzzwords that you wish you could just blow up into smithereens

Now you’ve done it.

We are a huge I.T. department. It will happen.

Well, all this open space is supposed to make us be more creative.

It seems that “speak to” or “speaks to” is the replacement for “address” or “addresses.”

“Speak(s) to” is not exactly new. That was USAF standard bureaucratese when I was a young officer in the early 1980s. So 30+ years ago.

Maybe it just now leaked into civilian practice. But I doubt it.

Gentlemen, your predicament speaks to me.

I hear ya.

Can I get an “Amen” to that?

Especially an on point one.

“We… reach, Mr. Spock.”

“______ Nation” for fans of sports teams. (E.g. Red Sox Nation, Buckeye Nation, etc.)

I’ll action your nation!!

I just wanted to tell you… [Just tell me, dammit!]
I mean

Pronouncing “homage” in a supposedly “French” way–as o-maaaje, rather than the way I always used to hear it–as aw-mij.
It seems to be the younger generation that pronunces it in the faux-french way.

I get annoyed when someone demonstrating something on TV refers to “we” and “our,” like “now we take our onions and sauté them in our pan here.”

“Can I ask you a question?”

ok now that one…
if words can even start to describe…

excuse me - I have to do some wall-punching.

This isn’t actually a “trendy buzzword,” but I hate it with the passion of a thousand suns, when someone refers to a shooting suicide as someone “eating their gun.” That is incredibly crude and insensitive, even if it accurately represents what the person did. Makes me cringe. My utter disdain for that expression multiplied exponentially when my uncle took his own life with a gun about five months ago.

“Lawyer up.” Christ, just hire an attorney.

“Have a good one!” “Life is too short!” I would love to see these blowup into
smithereens . I am really sick of hearing both of these expression .

I usually reply with “Just one, and that was it.” Then I walk away.

I agree with “___________ Nation,” although I think that’s pretty well on its way out.

All the “man” things: “Man up,” “manscaping,” “mansplaining,” “man cave,” etc.
