Trilogies where the middle one is the best one

As Reichs go, I thought the Second Reich was much better than the first and third.

I came here to say the same thing. “Catching Fire” is by far the best of the three.

Was going to nominate that one if not already mentioned.

It’s not a trilogy anymore but Dawn of the Dead was the best of Romero’s original 3 Living Dead movies. Night was groundbreaking and absolutely deserves its status and place in film history but Dawn surpassed it in just about every way. Day just didn’t work as well as the other two for whatever reason.
