I’m a Kings fan, and yet I’m happy for Bourque (and Rob Blake was well, who was a favorite of mine with the Kings). Yes, the whole Bourque angle has been overplayed, and yes, I’m sure many people are sick of hearing it. No, Bourque didn’t need a Stanley Cup win to “validate” his career–he’s a Hall of Famer no matter what. One of the best defensemen to play the game, period. I also feel for the Devils and their fans, who probably were just as deserving of a victory in an incredibly hard fought series. That said, I’m happy for the Avs, their fans, and particularly Ray Bourque. Great player, class guy (based on what I know of him–I haven’t met him personally). The only thing I’m sad about is seeing the Hockey season end. ☹ Not that baseball, basketball and football don’t keep me occupied. 🙂 ---
