**Tripler** can’t access the boards while he’s in Kuwait. I am worried as hell about him. However, he emailed me and asked me to pass on good thoughts to everyone, especially **lurkernomore, TruePisces** and all the NYC dopers, as well as the DC group. They are on the highest alert possible. I’m afraid he may end up in some sort of action over this. ---

I almost wonder if a “no unnecessary communication” rule is in effect. That might restrain emails and such. I’m sure he’s okay, but he’s going to be quite busy. ---

Hey, Please don’t pray for _me_, I’ve got a rifle. Pray for the people still trapped inside those buildings. There are still people that need help. . . I think they need prayers first. 🙂 Thank you though. I hope you Northerners are okay . . . And the second one: Brian did shoot me some news updates. I read through them. The most horiffic part of this whole thing is the footage of the Arabs parading in the streets celebrating this thing. . . Ack . . . ---

Thank you for the updates. And thank everyone for sending their regards for me. If you could just pass along one message for tonight for me, it’s this: – I thank everyone for their good thoughts and wishes. They’re keeping me as warm as the sun on one of these pretty Kuwaiti sunsets. I got a phone call from the States last night. It was about 1:30AM here, and it was the voice of a woman looking for “John” (presumably the fellah who occupied the room before me). She asked me to look around for him, but I was still half asleep and didn’t quite make it clear that he’d left on a military flight and was probably well on his way back to the US. I will guarantee that he is currently alive and well, and probably stuck somewhere in Germany, Spain, or Canada. I couldn’t quite explain to this woman that he wasn’t here, and that she was calling a housing room. She kept insisting that “he told us to call this extension” and pleaded with me to check the room. I finally figured out what was going on and explained to her that she was calling a 9’ by 9’ dorm room, and I was the only one there. I think I’ve heard the most gut-wrenching thing I ever heard in my life: a quiet whimpering “Oh good God . . .” and a quick dialtone. I don’t know who it was, but I think she thought John was dead. . . This leads me to one request of anyone back in the States: All I ask is that each of you take those thoughts of all of us guys and gals deployed somewhere, and turn them into a deed to help out in NYC or DC. Give blood, comfort a friend, help the EMTs, haul a hose for the Fire Department, buy some Girl Scout cookies, anything! There are people who are much less fortunate than we are right now, and they still need our help. All of your thoughts and notes are recieved and appreciated. Keep in mind that we are well, safe, and secure. And we’ll continue to be, so we can get to the bottom of this and maybe, just maybe, pluck this weed by its root, to stop this nonsense once and for all . . . I’ve had enough of these damned shenanigans, and I don’t think I’ll be content in life until I know this won’t happen again. Thanks again, and don’t hestitate to shoot me an e-mail. Tripler Again, my thoughts and prayers are with Dopers worldwide, and with the lady who called last night.
