Bob Crane (Hogan) was an accomplished drummer, and he showed off his skills in a couple of episodes of the show, most notably in _“Look at the Pretty Snowflakes”_ in season six, where he performed the drum solo on _‘Cherokee’_ in an attempt to trigger an avalanche as part of the storyline. He also performed the distinctive military-style snare drum rhythm that introduces the show’s theme song.

Very interesting! Did not know that. I watched that show a lot as a kid. I can hear that drum now, and see the boot running through the doorway.

In play:
Snowflakes take on a variety of shapes, basic among these are platelets, needles, columns and rime.

Hard rime is a white ice that forms when the water droplets in fog freeze to the outer surfaces of objects. It is often seen on trees atop mountains and ridges in winter, when low-hanging clouds cause freezing fog.

On January 19, 1977, snowfall was recorded at Homestead Air Force Base in Miami-Dade County, Florida. This is the farthest south in the contiguous United States that snowfall has been recorded.

The same weather system dumped snow on the island of Grand Bahama, which is the only instance of snow being observed in the history of the Bahamas.

In June 1775, John and Samuel Adams of Massachusetts nominated their Continental Congress colleague George Washington of Virginia to serve as commanding general of the newly-formed Continental Army. Washington left the room while the appointment was discussed, and was soon unanimously elected to the post. He said, in accepting it, “I am truly sensible of the high Honor done me in this Appointment… [but] I do not think myself equal to the Command I am honored with.” He served as the top American military officer for more than eight long, hard years, only resigning in December 1783, after victory was won and American independence secured.

Abigail Adams was…

- the first Second Lady of the USA, and
- the second First Lady of the USA…

… although the titles were not in use at that time.

The title of Second Lady, or SLOTUS, was first used for Jennie Hobart, wife of Garret Hobart, Vice President to William McKinley in 1897-1899.

The origins of the title of First Lady, or FLOTUS, are less clear. One of the earliest known written examples comes from the November 3, 1863, diary entry of William Howard Russell, in which he referred to gossip about “the First Lady in the Land”, referring to Mary Todd Lincoln.

_On Her Majesty’s Secret Service_ was the only James Bond film to star Australian model George Lazenby and the only one directed by Peter R. Hunt. Lazenby was the youngest actor cast as Bond, at age 29, and the only born outside of the British Isles. In interviews, he has said that he moved to London on a whim, to pursue a woman with whom he had fallen in love.

Lazenby’s co-star/Bond girl in _On Her Majesty’s Secret Service_ was Diana Rigg, who had also played a British secret agent on the television series, _The Avengers_. Her predecessor on _The Avengers_, Honor Blackman _(who portrayed Cathy Gale on the show)_ had previously appeared in the Bond film, _Goldfinger_ – and Joanna Lumley, who played Purdy in “The New Avengers”, a short-lived 1970s reboot of the original series, was cast as one of Blofeld’s ‘Angel of Death’ girls in _OHMSS_ as well.

And finally, _Avengers_ star Patrick Macnee also became a part of the Bond legacy when he was cast as a fellow SIS/MI6 agent and ally to Bond in 1985’s _A View to a Kill_.

When he became Emperor of France, Napoleon I retained the tricolor of the Revolutionary government as the national flag. Except for a 15-year hiatus after Napoleon’s defeat and abdication (1815-30), when the Bourbon monarchy was restored to the throne, the tricolor has been the flag of France ever since.

It is known to English speakers as the Tricolour (French: Tricolore), although the flag of Ireland and others are also so known. The design was adopted after the French Revolution; while not the first tricolour, it became one of the most influential flags in history. The tricolour scheme was later ado...
