The Weavers took their name from a play by Gerhart Hauptmann, Die Weber (The Weavers 1892), a powerful play depicting the uprising of the Silesia weavers in 1844, containing the lines, “I’ll stand it no more, come what may”.

Pete Seeger of The Weavers, accompanied by his grandson, Bruce Springsteen, and the Inaugural Celebration Chorus sang [This Land is Your Land](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnvCPQqQWds) to a crowd of 400,000 at the Lincoln Memorial the day before the Inauguration of Barack Obama. The 90-year old man no longer trusted his singing voice, so he spoke the words, encouraging the crowd and President-Elect to sing along.

The first state to join the union was New Jersey, not Delaware. On December 7, 1787, Delaware was the first state to ratify the Constitution. The day before, there was no union to join. Five days later Pennsylvania joined Delaware, thus creating a union of two. Then, the first state to join that union was New Jersey, 6 days later.

Philadelphia (or Philly) soul, sometimes called the Philadelphia sound or Sweet Philly, is a genre of soul music characterized by funk influences and lush instrumental arrangements, often featuring sweeping strings and piercing horns. The subtle sound of a vibraphone can often be heard in the background of Philly soul songs. The genre laid the groundwork for disco and what are now considered quiet storm and smooth jazz by fusing the R&B rhythm sections of the 1960s with the pop vocal tradition, and featuring a slightly more pronounced jazz influence in its melodic structures and arrangements.

The Poncelet–Steiner theorem asserts that any distance that can be constructed by straightedge and compass can be constructed by straightedge alone, provided that a single circle and its center are given. In 1904, Francesco Severi proved that the entire circle is not needed: any small arc together with the center will suffice

The legendary warrior Arthur was generally assumed to have lived in Wales or Cornwall — if he existed at all — since this was the home of Brythonic speakers when the legends came into focus. However both Gaelic and Brythonic were spoken in the southern part of today’s Scotland in the 6th-century — the time of Arthur — and much circumstantial evidence has accumulated that he lived and fought there. He may have been the historic Prince Artur MacAedan. The Round Table may have been the King’s Knot at Stirling Castle, which archaeologists are now investigating.
