Canada’s abortion law was struck down on constitutional grounds by the Supreme Court in 1988. Unlike in the US, that decision has been generally accepted politically, and abortion is now just one more medical procedure, regulated under provincial health laws. There have not been any further cases in the Supreme Court on the issue, unlike the regular stream of cases to the US Supreme Court since _Roe v Wade_. It’s an interesting commentary on the differences in the political cultures between the two countries.

The real life abortion nightmare of Nancy and Marty Klein was turned [Absolute Strangers](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absolute_Strangers), a TV movie starring Henry Winkler. Basically, after Marty Klein decided to seek the abortion that might help his wife, who was in a coma from a car accident, recover, two men came forward and said they knew Mrs. Klein and her fetus would not want the abortion.
