You could fit Rhode Island, the smallest U.S. state, into Alaska, the largest, 425 times. One-fifth the size of all the rest of the Lower 48, Alaska is bigger than Texas, California, and Montana combined. The 49th State is also 62.5 times wider (east to west) and 29.1 times taller (north to south) than Rhode Island.

48 US states are subdivided into counties. Louisiana has parishes, instead of counties, and Alaska has boroughs. Alaska’s organized boroughs cover the more densely populated areas of the state and do not cover the entire land area of the state. The area not part of any organized borough is referred to as the Unorganized Borough.

Alaska’s Unorganized Borough encompasses nearly half of the state. At 323,440 square miles, the Unorganized Borough is bigger than Texas.

Per Wiki:

Although Connecticut is divided into counties, there is no county government in Connecticut and local government consists of cities and towns. County government was abolished in Connecticut in 1960, although the names remain for geographical purposes. Counties are, however, still used by the state to organize its judicial and state marshal system.

“Popular” is one of the best-known songs from Steven Schwartz’s Tony Award-winning musical _Wicked_. On the Broadway cast album it is sung by the cast’s original Glinda, Kristin Chenoweth; in the song, Glinda addresses her roommate, whom she has decided to make over as “my new project”.

Steven Schwartz comments:“It’s [the song] meant to be as shallow as possible. And I think that’s why people enjoy it, because it’s real funny in that way. But it’s also political. Glinda refers to the fact that politicians and heads of state get by not because they’re particularly smart, but because people like to hang out with them.”

The U.S. Constitution does not specifically assign the President the title of head of state, but since the Washington Administration he has customarily acted in that capacity. This is because the President is a single individual, like a king in the European diplomatic practice, and the Constitution’s Art. II does give him the “Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties,” as well as to “appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls” and “receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers.”

In Sweden, large amounts of confectionery are sold every year, and a substantial part of it is sold as pick and mix. Wine gums are sold in many different shapes, of which fish is just one. The Swedish Fish candy is marketed under the name “pastellfiskar”, literally “pastel fish”, and under the Malaco brand among others. The fish shaped candies are also part of various Malaco bags of mixed candy. This candy bag has been sold for many years and is still a favorite among Swedes.
