The Colossus of Rhodes was 30 meters (98 feet) tall. As of 2016, there were 132 statues in the world that were at least that tall. Three, including the Statue of Liberty, are located in the United States, although one of these 3 is located in Puerto Rico. 38 of these 132 statues are located in China, including the world’s tallest statue: the Spring Temple Buddha, which stands 420 feet tall.

> The bombed-out shell of St Michael’s Cathedral, which had the popular name of Coventry Cathedral, still stand next to its post-war replacement. It was destroyed in a series of Luftwaffe raids, called the Coventry Blitz, on the industrial city in 1940, 1941, and 1942. [In] his 1974 book The Ultra Secret, Group Captain F. W. Winterbotham asserted that the British government had advance warning of the attack from Ultra: intercepted German radio messages encrypted with the Enigma cipher machine and decoded by British cryptanalysts at Bletchley Park. He further claimed that Winston Churchill ordered that no defensive measures should be taken to protect Coventry, lest the Germans suspect that their cipher had been broken.

That was repeated in the recent movie _The Imitation Game_, but seems to be wrong: [Coventry Blitz - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coventry_Blitz#Coventry_and_Ultra)

In play:

The Statue of Liberty is destroyed in both _Deep Impact_ and _Cloverfield_, by a tsunami and a sea monster, respectively. In _Escape from New York_, the Statue is a fortified watchpost for the prison built on Manhattan Island.

Jaime Lannister is a fictional character in the _A Song of Ice and Fire_ series of fantasy novels by American author George R. R. Martin, and its television adaptation _Game of Thrones_. Perhaps the greatest swordsman in the kingdom, Jaime is sometimes derisively called “the Kingslayer” because he killed the “Mad King” Aerys Targaryen.

For the first 13 years of National Geographic’s existence as a magazine, there was no magazine that published photographs. The Berliner Illustrirte Zeitung was the first to pioneer the format of the illustrated news magazine in 1901, when it began to print photographs inside the magazine, a revolutionary innovation.

1888 was the Dreikaiserjahre - “year of three kaisers”.

Wilhelm I died in the spring, aged 91. His son, Frederick Wilhelm, inherited the thrones of German Emeperor and King of Prussia, but died of cancer less than three months later. His son, Wilhelm II then inherited.

The mnemonic “drei Achten, drei kaiser” helps to remember the significance of the date.

The Year of Three Popes occurred in 1978. The three popes involved were:
Paul VI (Giovanni Battista Montini) who was elected on 21 June 1963 and died on 6 August 1978.
John Paul I (Albino Luciani) who was elected on 26 August 1978 and died thirty-three days later on 28 September 1978.
John Paul II (Karol Wojtyla) who was elected on 16 October 1978 and held the position until his death 26 years later on 2 April 2005.

There were several Years of Three Popes throughout papal history; the most recent one prior to 1978 was in 1605.

Triplicate Girl was a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes with the power to split into three identical people. She died in battle against Computo and the other giant computer robots, killed by a disintegrating ray.

The Legion held a funeral for her, sending what ashes they could collect to a graveyard planet for superheroes.

Then after the funeral, she re-appeared. It turned out that she had been in her three people mode and one of those had been killed, but the other two survived. From thenceforth, she was Duo Damsel.
