The tallest palm tree species is the palma de cera (Ceroxylon quindiuense) also known as wax palm. It is native to the humid montane forests of the Andes in Colombia and northern Peru. This palm species can grow to a height of 60 meters (200 feet). The Dypsis minuta is probably the smallest palm species in the world and will probably not surpass 30 centimeters (12 inches) in height. This species is endemic to Madagascar.

“California, Here I Come” was written for the 1921 Broadway musical Bombo, starring Al Jolson. While yhe song was written by Buddy DeSylva and Joseph Meyer, Jolson is often listed as a co-author. It is often called the unofficial state song of California, and several failed attempts were made to designate it as the official state song of California, especially after a resolution passed by the California State Legislature in 1951 designated “I Love You, California” as the state song. “I Love You, California” was officially declared the state song in 1988.

Entertainer Al Jolson was the first major star to entertain U.S. troops during both World War II and the Korean War, though his desire to serve his country in this way likely contributed to his early death.

While touring the Pacific with the USO during WWII, Jolson contracted malaria, which led to the surgical removal of one of his lungs. Shortly after returning from a USO tour at the beginning of the Korean War, Jolson died of a heart attack at the age of 64.

Laurence Olivier’s 1944 film version of Shakespeare’s _Henry V_ was the first artistically and commercially successful adaptation of Shakespeare’s plays. Winston Churchill asked Olivier, who was his friend, to make a film version of the play, notable for its patriotic St. Crispin’s Eve speech, to help raise British morale during the worst days of World War II; it was partly funded by the British government. In 2007, Military History Magazine listed this production 75th among “The 100 Greatest War Movies.”

Winston Churchill was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945, and again from 1951 to 1955. During his first tenure he helped lead the Allied forces to victory in World War II, for which he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. However, that honor went to US Secretary of State Cordell Hull. Later, Churchill won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1953.

Nancy Sinatra’s recording of “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’,” written and produced by Lee Hazlewood, was a hit partly because of its raunchy double-bass intro, and partly because she accepted Hazlewood’s encouragement to “sing it like a 16 year old girl who fucks truck drivers”.

Sean Connery is the original actor to portray the character of James Bond, and starred in seven of the films in the series between 1962 and 1983. Ian Fleming, Bond’s creator, originally did not like the casting because he felt that Connery was too “unrefined”; to Fleming the ideal Bond was Cary Grant. Fleming later changed his mind and admitted that Connery did well in the role.

The movie _Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang_, based on Fleming’s book, was released in 1968. Dick Van Dyke was one of the stars of the movie, playing the role of an eccentric inventor with the wonderfully eccentric name of Caractacus Potts. Another star was Sally Ann Howes, who played the role of the also wonderfully named Truly Scrumptious.

I found the line on Connery’s being the 1st Bond on IMDB, which by now I should know is not 100% reliable.

Interesting sketch; to me it looks most like Timothy Dalton and Piers Brosnan, a little like Cary Grant and not much like Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore or Daniel Craig.
