The movie was filmed in part in Salzburg, at Mondsee Abbey, the Felsenreitschule, Nonnberg Abbey, Mirabell Palace Gardens, Residence Fountain, and various street locations throughout the Altstadt.

Northwest of Salzburg about 25 miles and not related to _The Sound of Music_ at all is Fucking Austria.

When pro-Union War Democrat John Brough was elected Governor of Ohio over Copperhead (Peace Democrat) Clement Vallandigham in November 1863, President Abraham Lincoln sent a telegram to Brough reading, in part, “Glory to God in the highest: Ohio has saved the Union.” It was the only time during the Civil War that the President singled out a state for that accolade.

The copperhead is a 155mm artillery shell designated as the M712. It is a fin-stabilized, laser-guided projectile intended for hard targets (tanks, etc…) and has a minimum range of 2 miles and a maximum range of 10 miles. It was created in 1970 and weighs over 135 pounds, and so is significantly heavier than the basic 155 standard, the 96 pound high explosive shell. The copperhead has 15lbs of shaped charge explosives.

Note: in my 155mm artillery career with the M-198 towed howitzer, I knew of the copperhead and its capabilities, but never fired one. Same goes with the nuclear rounds.

In the 17th century, Vietnam was divided between the Trịnh lords to the north and the Nguyễn lords to the south. The northern section was called Tonkin by Europeans, and the southern part called Cochinchina by most Europeans and Quinam by the Dutch. Cochinchina was never a single united administrative unit until the French seized it in the 1850s.

During the French colonial period, the label moved further south, and came to refer exclusively to the southernmost part of Vietnam, controlled by Cambodia in prior centuries, and lying to its southeast. The capital of the French colony of Cochinchina was at Saigon. The two other parts of Vietnam at the time were known as Annam (Central Vietnam) and Tonkin (Northern Vietnam).
