Petula Clark came to early fame as a child star in movies and early TV in the UK at the age of 11, while also having hit songs in the 1950s and breaking through in the US in the 1960s. She returned to the stage as she got older, and spent five years touring as Norma Desmond in the musical **Sunset Boulevard** , playing the role more times than any other actress.

Sunset Boulevard is a 22-mile road in Los Angeles County connecting downtown LA to the Pacific Coast in the city of Pacific Palisades. In 1994 the portion of Sunset Boulevard east of Figueroa Street was renamed Cesar Chavez Avenue along with Macy Street and Brooklyn Avenue in honor of the late Mexican-American union leader and civil rights activist.

The Saskatchewan Legislature is precisely aligned to the cardinal compass points, with the main corridors running east-west. On the spring and fall equinoxes, it is possible to stand on the eastern outlook on Wascana Lake, and see the sunset shining in the west window and down the corridor running the length of the building.

The state legislature of Ohio is called the General Assembly. It is composed of both a Senate and a House of Representatives; Senate districts are exactly three times as large as House districts. Both houses currently have Republican majorities.

There have been three U.S. Navy warships named _Nebraska_. The current one, an _Ohio_-class ballistic missile submarine, was commissioned in 1993 and is still on active duty.

Ohio is the birthplace of 24 NASA astronauts, more than any other state, including such notable pioneers as John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, Jim Lovell, and Judy Resnik.

Contrary to popular belief, whaling is still permitted in several first-world countries; however, in many cases (such as Canada, Russia & the U.S.) it’s only allowed for indigenous native cultures.

The Barry Manilow song “Weekend In New England” does not contain the lyric “weekend in New England.” The closest that it comes is “time in New England.”

The young Princess Elizabeth referred to her grandfather, King George V, as “Grandpapa England.” He died in 1936, when she was nine.

The Royal Navy battleship HMS _King George V_ (41) survived WWII. In 1949 it was placed in reserve, and then eight years later it was scrapped.

Azad Hind (“Free India”) was the name of a puppet provisional government of India set up by the Japanese in Singapore during World War II. Indian troops under the control of Azad Hind fought against the British in some battles, especially the Battle of Imphal.

In 2009, Barack Obama hosted the first state dinner of his Presidency in honor of Dr. Manmohan Singh. Both men had made political history in their respective countries - Obama as the first black U.S. President, and Singh as the first Sikh Prime Minister of India.
