I wasn’t the only SDMB poster who originally read TubaDiva’s name as “TubaDiver.” I admitted as much on at least one occasion, and other people said they too had had the same misconception. So I’m inclined to forgive that particular mistake. The rest of it, not so much. ---

And this is especially true of the person in question is in a position of authority At least the boys have gotten better about accepting that girls use the internet too. Back in the early days of the board, many men just assumed everyone else was male. This sometimes happened even if they had a username like “Jersey Girl” or something. But it still happens. It’s shocking how deep the notion that the default human is a man and that women are some kimd of exception to the rule. ---
