Thank you both, believe it or not, I was trying to help Kearsen1 show he wasn’t just a troll. When the report came in I was unaware of his history. But the JAQing looked pretty likely. If he met me part way, he would have been fine. But the flagger(s) were correct, he was trolling. I should probably do a user’s history check sooner next time. I’m still learning. ---

Yeah, he lost his temper apparently. (Or wanted to get banned) There are many possible responses that could have justified his position, or respectfully disagreed with the moderation. I’m a bit of contrarian myself, but “fuck you, I’m not going to comply” isn’t tolerated and shouldn’t be. ---

People wonder “why are there not more posters here on the SDMB that post right wing ideas? Why is this board so left-leaning?” Well, because so many right wing posters are like our boy Kearsten1. The post stupid shit, unsupported by any factual evidence, and then when asked to provide cites or backup, simply degenerate into “I can say whatever I want, so fuck you” This has become the way the right wing conducts itself now. The right wing posters have gotten themselves banned because they are acting like lying deranged lunatics that believe every nutty bit of bullshit or conspiracy theory fed to them by the increasingly reality-challenged right wing media that they consume. And when called on this, or asked to provide evidence, they simply follow their Dear Leader and spew insults. Is it any wonder that there is a paucity of them here, where this is simply unacceptable behaviour? ---

And, some posters that used to seem more conservative now seem more liberal as the Republican Party goes off the deep end. For example, my early impressions of **Little Nemo** and **SenorBeef** were that they were center-right, but not anymore. ---

He **sbright** posted lots of non-election stuff first. He’s definitely playing the tedious Asbergery wanker role. Whether that’s his real personality or that was his cover story remains to be seen. The couple of times folks have out-mathed him, even about election stuff, he’s quickly backed down. That’s an encouraging sign he’s just a useless goof, not a malign actor. We shall see. One thing’s for sure: if he’s a troll he’ll burst & fade like a firework real soon. ---

Kind of like with concern trolling, but more generalized. It could be that he’s open-minded, but more likely (I think) it’s just paying out a little more in the hope you’ll bite. Agree that his signs are ambiguous. And that the very most skilled trolls can play a whole crowd like a fiddle despite each crowd member’s different individual tolerances. pay out _just_ enough line and reel in _juuust_ hard enough to keep resetting the hook. etc. I’d already lost interest in his craptacular math sense. So him branching out from math-as-math to math-as-RW-political-JAQing didn’t bring me back into his sphere. He’ll live or die on his own efforts. IOW: Not my circus; not my monkeys. ---
