The guy (almost certainly a guy) **etasyde** showed up just below this post a couple days ago > [@Trump to put nut on fed reserve board](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/trump-to-put-nut-on-fed-reserve-board/925738/106): > > Bumping this thread to get back to the original topic, Judy Shelton. According to the [Wall Street Journal](https://www.wsj.com/articles/senate-moves-to-confirm-trump-fed-nominee-waller-but-sheltons-candidacy-hits-likely-dead-end-11606936087) (and other outlets) [I can’t read the whole article due to paywall], her nomination is likely dead now that Sen. Mark Kelly has been sworn in. Senate Republicans’ bid to confirm Judy Shelton as a Federal Reserve governor appears unlikely to succeed now that a new Democratic senator has been seated, denying President Trump’s nominee the votes needed for approval. Here’s hoping that’s tru… and has been riding the “gold standard is the only good monetary system” hobbyhorse for all it’s worth. Actually for far more than it’s worth, since it’s worthless. But boy howdy, is he a believer. Other than that his 4-year history seems to be a bog-standard RW apologist. At least he can form coherent long-form arguments. Weak on factual grounding, but not frothing mad. --- _[View the full topic](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/trolls-r-us-redux-now-the-argument-clinic/913349)._
